It is required for you to have the 2020 AHA ACLS Student Manual to take this class.  The 2015 edition is outdated and will not be accepted.  If you have your own copy of the 2020 AHA ACLS Student Manual, please bring it with you on the day of the class. You may purchase the 2020 AHA ACLS hardcopy Student Manual for $50.00 or you may purchase the AHA ACLS eBook for $41.00 (e-Books may take up to 24hrs to receive)

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Online Part 1 Course offers a flexible training option for busy healthcare professionals. The online cognitive portion (Part 1) allows students to complete learning at their own pace and convenience.  To help students gain confidence in performing skills , Part 1 is combined with a hands-on skills session (Part2) where students have the opportunity for one-on-one practice time with an American Heart Association BLS Instructor.  A skills test (Part 3) with an AHA BLS Instructor ensures skills proficiency. Upon successful completion of all three parts, students receive their healthcare provider course completion card.

The BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

 

COURSE CONTENT

  • High quality CPR for adults, children and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
  • Use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Importance of teams  in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

The Heartsaver CPR/AED course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.  The Heartsaver CPR/AED course covers the following:

  • Adult CPR AED (with mask)
  • Adult choking
  • Optional modules include child CPR AED, and infant CPR, including child and infant choking.

The American Heart Association's core Heartsaver classroom courses are for those with little or no medical training.  This video-based, Instructor-led course teaches participants critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) takes over.  Participants learn how to recognize, respond to and treat a variety of first aid emergencies, and perform CPR and use an AED in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. The Heartsaver CPR/AED with First Aid Course covers the following:

  • First aid basics (including scene safety, finding the problem, calling for help and more)
  • Medical emergencies (including actions for choking, breathing problems, shock and more)
  • Injury emergencies (including actions for bleeding, broken bones, burns and more)
  • Environmental emergencies (including actions for bites and stings, and temperature-related and poison emergencies)
  • Adult CPR/AED (with a mask)
  • Optional modules include child CPR AED, and infant CPR, including child and infant choking.

Heartsaver CPR/AED with First Aid Part 1 is a web-based, self directed program.  The program teaches students critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage a first aid or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.  Content includes how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies, as well as perform CPR and use of an AED.

The Heartsaver CPR/AED Online Course is designed to prepare students to provide CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.  Heartsaver courses are intended for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for work, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements.  These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.

 

Upon successful completion of this course you will be prompted to print your completion certificate.  Then you will call the training center at 646-290-6540 to schedule a skills test.  You must bring the completion certificate with you to give to your instructor,

Part 1 - Online - Approximately 6-9 hours depending on the level of knowledge and experience of the student. 

Parts 2 and 3 - The student will demonstrate proficiency in providing PALS skills after practicing with the instructor. Successful completion of the skills portion will result in American Heart Association PALS certification.
